“My collaboration with friend and neighbor Will Fielding has involved small-scale, low-relief hand-carving. Adapting motifs for the functional and ornamental needs of the banjo has been both a challenge and a delight. It’s also a pleasure to customize designs: a mermaid for a ship’s captain, the Greenman for a woodworker. These banjos will be held, played and enjoyed—I think they’ll also improve with age.” Michelle.
